[2004] Gresham’s law in the late Chosun Korea
The issue of Gresham's law in the late Chosun Korea is addressed. Available historical records are interpreted to provide evidence that undervalued money was taken out of circulation because of both the legal tender law and Rolnick and Weber's law. Later, however, undervalued money replaced overvalued money because of the inflationary effect of the latter.

[2004] Conglomerates and Economic Calculation
Using Mises’s concept of economic calculation, this paper explains why conglomerates are frequently observed in emerging economies across the world. It also addresses the issue of why conglomerates take the form of either the multidivisional diversified single firm or the diversified business group.

[2000] Land Reform, Income Redistribution, and Agricultural Production in Korea
The effect of agricultural land reform on the Korean economy was tremendous. While most of the previous studies have focused on the changes in land ownership, they ignored the economic cause of land reform and its effects on income redistribution and rice production. This article addresses those issues as well as the political and economic causes of land reform. We emphasize that high transaction costs between landlords and tenants eventually broke down the tenancy system. Also, land reform redistributed income mainly from landlords to tenants and, on a smaller scale, to the government and the general public. This is consistent with the intuition of the median voter theorem. In addition, the abolition of the tenancy system increased agricultural production, which supports the notion of the Marshallian productive inefficiency theory of sharecropping. It also made a contribution to stabilizing the political environment, thus positively affecting future economic growth.

[2000] 카르텔, 합병, 협력, 담합, 독점의 차이에 관한 소고
카르텔, 합병, 협력, 담합, 독점을 이론적으로 구분하고, 그러한 개념에 대한 주류 경제학의 오류를 지적한다. 기업결합과 공동행위를 금지한 현행 공정거래법 조항은 폐지되어야 함을 보인다. 기업의 협력 행위를 담합으로 비난하는 것은 반시장적으로 잘못된 것이다. 시장에서 정부의 간섭이 없다면, 그리고 자연법(natural law) 원리에 기초해 만들어진 법에 위배되지 않는다면, 기업의 행위는 그것이 무엇이라도 가치를 증가시키고 사회적으로 유용하다. 시장에서 소비자의 권리 뿐만 아니라 생산자의 권리도 보호되어야 한다.

[1999] 규제의 이익집단이론과 공정거래법
공정거래법은 기업의 행위에 직접적인 영향을 미친다. 지난 20년동안 공정거래법의 효과에 대한 연구는 비교적 활발하게 이루어지고 있는 것처럼 보인다. 그러나 공정거래법이 만들어진 동기나 기원에 대한 연구는 거의 전무하다. 이 연구는 그러한 연구의 갭을 메우고자 하는 시도이다. 이 연구는 이익집단의 관점에서 공정거래법이 만들어졌다고 보고, 실증적 검증을 위한 몇 가지 가설을 제시하는 것이 목적이다. 공정거래법 조항 중에 경제력 집중 억제와 도서 정가제가 만들어진 동기나 기원에 관한 가설을 제시하였다. 이 연구의 한계는 관계 자료를 구할 수 없어 실증적 연구를 뒷날로 미룰 수밖에 없다는 것이다.

[1998] 오스트리아 학파의 독점관과 경쟁정책
모든 종류의 정부 제한은 독점적이다. 그 결과 자유 시장에서 나올 결과와 비교한다면 경쟁을 제한하고, 소비자의 만족을 감소시킨다. 오스트리아 학파의 독점 이론, 특히 라스바드의 독점 이론만이 가장 이론적 결점이 없는 것이다. 그의 이론으로부터 많은 정책적 시사점을 유도하였다. 특히 비자발적 카르텔만 금지하고 각종 진입 장벽과 보호 무역을 포함한 정부의 규제, 허가, 인가 등을 제거하는 것이 올바른 경쟁 정책이라고 하겠다. 세계적으로 일어나고 있는 규제 철폐, 자유 무역, 민영화 등이 라스바드의 독점 이론과 가장 잘 합치되는 것은 결코 우연이 아니다.
